Clear Braces vs. Traditional Braces: Which are Right for You?

If you or your child need braces to help align and straighten your teeth, you may be wondering about your options. You might remember growing up with braces yourself, or with friends who had braces that were noticeable and awkward. Fortunately, braces have come a long way since then, and the orthodontists we work with have several different options.

Clear Braces vs. Traditional Braces: Which are Right for You?

Here are the differences between traditional braces and clear braces to help you make your decision.

  • The visibility: The main difference between clear braces and traditional braces is the visibility and color of them. As the name suggests, clear braces are clear and are easily less noticeable. Traditional braces are more visible and can come in a variety of fun colors to choose from.
  • The cost: It’s also important to note the cost difference between the two different types of braces. Clear braces are a newer dental technology and tend to cost more than traditional braces, but they still have many benefits that make the cost worth it for some.
  • Comfort levels: If you had traditional braces growing up, you might remember the metal digging uncomfortably into your lips and cheeks. Clear braces are made of a different material that makes them less harsh against the inside of your mouth and overall more comfortable to wear.

While clear braces have many benefits to offer, both clear and traditional braces are great choices for you or your child, and both are available at our office.
