Making going to the dentist a positive, fun experience is our goal at Smile Cove Pediatric Dental. At our practice in Tampa, Florida, our team members do their best to make sure every child is as comfortable as possible in the dental chair. But despite our best efforts, some children still feel very anxious about going to the dentist and having dental work done.
If your child is feeling particularly nervous prior to a dental procedure, we may recommend one of our sedation dentistry solutions. These include IV sedation, nitrous oxide, and oral sedation. We may suggest one of these options if your child is extremely fearful or anxious about going to the dentist, if they must receive a complex or lengthy treatment, or if you would simply like your child to have a better experience at our office. The goal of our sedation dentistry options is to help your child stay calm while receiving required care.
Depending on the needs of your child, we may use conscious sedation, otherwise known as “laughing gas.” This type of sedation lets your child stay awake but helps them feel calm and relaxed during their procedure. When we consult with you during your child’s appointment, our pediatric dental professionals will determine which type of sedation is best for the upcoming treatment.
