White spots refer to the white lesions that may appear on teeth due to demineralization of the tooth enamel, which is often caused by poor oral hygiene or excessive fluoride exposure. An ICON white spot treatment addresses these lesions, preventing further decay or demineralization while improving the appearance of the tooth.
An ICON white spot treatment involves several steps. First, the dentist will etch the tooth around the white spot to prepare it for the ICON resin. The resin, also called the infiltrant, is applied to the lesion, and then the dentist cures the resin with a special light. When the treatment is finished, the white spot will be less noticeable, if not virtually invisible.
